WYSIWYG Web Builder Portable, an acronym for “What You See Is What You Get,” is a sophisticated and innovative software application designed to facilitate the creation and maintenance of webpages in a highly intuitive and user-friendly manner. This groundbreaking technology enables users, regardless of their technical prowess or programming knowledge, to construct visually appealing and responsive websites through a graphical interface that mirrors the final output.

At its core, WYSIWYG Web Builder Portable is built upon a robust foundation that amalgamates elements of psychology and cognitive science, making it profoundly accessible to a diverse user base. It achieves this by capitalizing on the fundamental human propensity for visual recognition and spatial reasoning, allowing individuals to comprehend and manipulate intricate website structures with ease.

The software’s user interface is ingeniously designed, incorporating drag-and-drop functionality that effortlessly translates abstract concepts into tangible digital artifacts. As such, WYSIWYG Web Builder deftly circumvents the daunting learning curve typically associated with web development, rendering it an invaluable tool for novices and experts alike.

Notwithstanding its seemingly simplistic nature, WYSIWYG Web Builder Portable boasts an impressive array of advanced features that cater to the most exacting professional standards. Among these are support for responsive design, ensuring seamless compatibility across various devices and platforms; integration with contemporary web technologies, such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript; and the capacity for extensibility via third-party plugins.

However, despite its many merits, some may argue that WYSIWYG Web Builder promotes complacency among budding developers by obviating the need for a deep understanding of underlying code structures. It could be construed as a hindrance to the organic cultivation of programming expertise, fostering reliance on visual tools at the expense of versatile coding skills.

Nevertheless, proponents of WYSIWYG Web Builder are quick to counter that the software serves as an indispensable springboard for aspiring web designers, granting them an opportunity to experiment with design concepts and layouts in a low-pressure environment. Moreover, the software’s transparent code generation allows for in-depth inspection and modification of the resultant markup, thus providing ample learning opportunities for the curious.

In conclusion, WYSIWYG Web Builder Portable is an exemplary manifestation of human-centered design principles applied to the realm of web development. By bridging the gap between visual thinking and technical execution, it revolutionizes the way websites are created and maintained. Although not without its detractors, WYSIWYG Web Builder undeniably democratizes access to the world of web design, empowering an increasingly diverse group of individuals to participate in, and ultimately shape, the digital landscape.

What is new in WYSIWYG Web Builder 18?

Styles Everywhere
– New feature: Most built-in objects now have support for styles. This means that the colors and fonts of these objects can be controlled from one place (in the style manager).
Previously styles were only available for basic HTML elements like form elements (editbox, select, button etc) layers, text. In WWB18, even advanced elements like menus, login forms, jQuery UI/ Bootstrap widgets, shapes and images have style support!
It’s even possible to use styles for the page background!
Styles can be useful to quickly update the styles of the entire website during design time, but it’s also possible to make a style switcher for when the page it online… So, the visitor can choose its own style.

Dark Color Scheme
One of the reasons why WWB18 has extended support for styles is to make it possible to introduce another cool new feature: CSS color schemes (dark / light).
Now you can create a different color scheme for web site visitors who prefer dark mode.
Normally, when you design a website it is for light mode only.
In the style manager, each color also has an (optional) dark color property, so you can set a different color for the background, text, border when the browser runs in dark mode.
Besides dark mode styles, WWB18 also has the possibility to invert the colors of an object for the dark color scheme. In that case, you do not have to use styles, but all colors will be inverted (negative).

Section
– New feature: Many WWB users love Cards, because they are easier to create great looking content blocks. WWB18 has a new design element called ‘Section’. A Section works the same as a Card, but the main difference is that elements can be freely positioned (layered)! Each element can anchored positioned/anchored without effecting other elements in the same section, The alignment (horizontal/vertical) of an element can be left, center, right or stretched. Image and video automatically maintain their aspect ratio. Just like a card, Sections support dividers, animations/transitions, events and much more!

Protected Content
– New feature: Added the ability to show/hide elements based on the login status of users. Instead of creating a separate protected page, now it’s also possible to protect specific content on a page.
Available options are: show for all users (default), show for login in users only, show for logged out users only, show for specific user groups (user roles).
For example, you can show a login button for user that are not logged in and a logout button for logged in users.
When an protected content for an object is enabled, then the workspace will render display and ‘lock’ icon in the lower right corner. The color of this icon can be set in Tools -> Option -> Grid and Guides. The icon overlay can also be disabled.

Protected Menu Items – Visibility Control of menu items based on the login status.
– New feature: Added the ability to show/hide menus items based on the login status (logged in, logged out, group/user role).
This features is available for: Breadcrumb, CSS Menu, Dropdown Menu, Go Menu, Mega Menu, Menubar, Overlay Menu, Pagination, Panel Menu, Responsive Menu, Slide Menu, Tab menu and Text menu.

Mouse Effects
– New feature: Added ‘Mouse Effects’: Mouse Track and 3D tilt.
“Mouse Track” creates a sense of depth by making objects move in relation to the visitor’s mouse movement. The speed property controls the level of the effect.
“3d tilt’ tilts the object according to the movement of the mouse. The angle sets the maximum tilt rotation (degrees).

Custom Scrollbars
– New feature: Added the ability to customize the scrollbars of web pages. Now you can make style scrollbars to match the rest of your design! There are properties to set the colors, width, border and radius.
Note that this is an experimental feature because Custom Scrollbars are not fully supported by all browsers yet. It works in Egde, Chrome, Safari and partially in FireFox.

Simplified Ribbon
WWB18 has a new redesigned ribbon mode: Simplified Ribbon. The Simplified Ribbon is a combination between the classic toolbar and ribbon.
The Simplified Ribbon shows the commands in a single line which not only brings a modern interface to WWB but also frees up space to show more of the page you are working on.
Because there is less space available, all buttons might not be visible. If you want to switch back to the classic ribbon where you can see more commands, simply click the downward pointing arrow in the lower right corner of the ribbon to expand it. Use this arrow control to switch between the simplified and classic ribbon. It’s also possible to switch between ribbon, classic menubar/toolbars and simplified ribbon in Tools -> Options -> User Interface -> User Interface

Icons Libraries
– New feature: Added ‘User Collection’ functionality. This make it possible to add icons to a custom collection so you have all your favorites icons in one place.
You add any icon form any icon library. The icons from the user collection will be saved in SVG format, so you can even remove the icon library from your computer if you no longer need the other icons!

Animations
– New feature: Added ‘Alias’ functionality. This make it possible to give animation an name that is easier to remember.
Over the years we have added many new animations. Most animations have technical names like ‘transform-lightspeed-in’ or ‘transform-swing’.
By using an alias they can now be displayed as ‘Lightspeed In’ and ‘Swing’. Internally, the software will still use the original name (because renaming the animation name would break existing websites, that use that animation).
So, an alias is only to make it easier to identify the animation. Note: when ‘display aliases in user interface’ is enabled then animations without an alias will not be displayed. Which can also be useful to hide less frequently used animations without removing them completely!
– New feature: Added ‘Copy / Paste’ functionality. This makes it possible to copy/ paste animations and transitions between objects.

Stock Photo
– New feature: Added integration with for ‘Pexels’. WWB already supported UnSplash and Pixabay, and now you can also easily use free stock photos, royalty free images & videos shared by creators on Pexels.com

Responsive Text
– New feature: Added “Responsive Text” object. This is a simplified text object. It only supports one type of font, color etc per object. This makes the object easier management in complex layout (for example when using style or dark mode). Unlike the standard text object, styles/classes apply to the entire object, not just the selected text. Also, the object produces cleaner HTML output, because it does not use any inline styles.

The ‘maximum width’ property specifies the width of the panel. Note that this feature is experimental. So, it’s currently ‘hidden’ in the Property Inspector. We will continue to improve this functionality in future updates.

PayPal Buttons
– New feature: Added ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ buttons to “Extra Variables’ properties to re-arrange the values.
– New feature: Added ‘Weight’ property to shipping section. This option is meant to be used in combination with the ‘PayPal Shopping Cart’ widget to calculate the shipping costs, it overrides the default PayPal shipping settings (based shipping, extra shipping and handling). The reason why this was added is because if you used the standard PayPal shipping then it’s not possible to display the complete costs until the customer checks out.
The number represents the weight of the product. Do not include weight units like lb, oz or kg.

– New feature: Added the ability to automatically hide scrollbars in the workspace. When a scrollbar is inactive (the mouse cursor is not located inside it), only compact (thin) thumb box will be drawn. When you move the mouse inside the scrollbar, the bar will be fully drawn. You control this behavior in Tools -> Options -> User Interface -> Automatically Hide Scrollbars.
– New feature: Added ‘Open file location’ to the context menu of the Toolbox. When an extension is selected, then this will open extensions folder in Windows Explorer.

HTML Widget
– New feature: the ability to set the font size of the editor.

Ready-to-use-Javascripts
– New feature: Added ‘WYSIWYG Web Builder’ logos (light and dark).

Google Fonts
– New feature: Added more than 350 new fonts.
– New feature: Added the ability to host Google fonts locally for better performance and privacy.
Normally, Google Fonts are loaded from Google servers. This means that an extra CSS file needs to be loaded and two extra DNS lookups (fonts.googleapis.com and font.gstatic.com). When you do host Google Fonts locally, all the requests will come from the same domain as your other assets.
Also, there may be privacy concerns when using Google services: https://blog.runcloud.io/google-fonts-gdpr/. By using local fonts, Google will not be able to track your visitors.

Other changes
– Improved: we’ve dropped the ‘-webkit-‘ prefix for transform, transition, animation
– Removed: IE compatibility property.

NOTE:
The AI tools in WYSIWYG Web Builder are implemented using the third-party OpenAI API (ChatGPT, DALL-E).
You will need an OpenAI API key in order to use this functionality. If you do not already have an OpenAI account then you can create it here: https://platform.openai.com/signup

You can create an OpenAI API key for free. New users get free $5 worth of free tokens. These tokens expire after 3 months.
After the quota has passed you can choose to enter billing information to upgrade to a paid plan and continue your use of the API on pay-as-you-go basis.

The API key can be entered in Tools -> Options -> Artificial Intelligence

Translate Text
– New feature: This is part of the new AI tools, but also available as separate tool. Translate selected objects or create a translated copy of the whole page!

Remove background with AI
– New feature: Added AI powered background removal functionality for images.
This feature automatically detects a person or object in an image and replaces the background with a transparent one. Unlike traditional background removal methods, this tool works 100% automatically. You don’t have to manually select the background/foreground layers to separate them – just click ‘Remove Background’ and it instantly generate a new image with the background removed!

Website Wizard
– New feature: Added ‘Website Wizard’ to quickly create a new project. Select style, the pages you want to include and even (optionally) generate content with AI!

Badges
– New feature: Added ‘Badge’ object. A “badge” is a small graphic, text or symbol that can be used to add additional information to the web site elements. For example, showing if a product is available, promoting a discount, displaying a user’s achievements, or indicating how popular a product is. A Badge can be applied to almost any WWB object.
The Badge object has 8 different types: Arrow, Bookmark, Bootstrap-like badge, Flag, Stripe, Triangle, Ribbon and Shape (with more than 200 shape types). Badges can include both text and icons, and they can also incorporate animations to capture the visitor’s attention.

Theme Manager
– New feature: Theme Manager has been ‘resurrected’. WWB has supported themes for a long time, however previously they were only useful for jQuery UI widgets.
The Theme Manager has been updated to support almost all objects. Unlike jQuery UI widgets which require a pretty large CSS set. The new themes only have a small footprint.
– New feature: Added 25 new themes inspired by Boot Swatch. Each of the new themes also has a dark theme variation, which allows the visitors of the website to choose between a light and dark theme. Just like you can with styles.
– New feature: Added ‘Invert colors’ button to invert all colors of the current theme. This may be useful if you want to quickly create a dark variant of the theme.
– New feature: Added Theme gallery to page menu.
– Improved: Added dark variants of the following themes: blitzer, cupertino, eggplant, excite-bike, flick, hot-sneaks, humanity, overcast, pepper-grinder, redmond, smoothness, south-street, start, sunny, ui-lightness, vader.
– Improved: Theme Manager dialogs are now resizable.
– Improved: Double clicking the theme name will open the properties for that theme.
– Improved: Property list now also uses ‘Office look’ (when enabled in UI options).
– Improved: Theme selector now also includes the name (in addition to the preview image) and the themes are sorted by name.

Card
– New feature: Added support for Affix to keep the card visible while scrolling.
– New feature: Added ecommerce functionality to cards. Via the new ‘ecommerce’ item you can add checkboxes, radio buttons, select /dropdown lists, price and quantity fields to the card. These items can then be used to adjust the price. For example, the size of a t-shirt, gift wrapping, glossy printing paper etc.
Extra options can increase or decrease the final price. Calculations are done automatically so there is no need to implement events or conditions!
Available options: checkbox, radio buttons, select / dropdown, price field, quantity field
– New feature: Added support for shapes in Cards.
– New feature: Added ‘Minimum height’ property for Text items. When working with text in cards, variations in text length often result in varying text heights, creating challenges when aligning other elements within the card, such as buttons placed at the bottom. To address this, you can now set a minimum height, ensuring consistent and predictable text heights for improved alignment.
– New feature: Added the ability assign a link to Card text items.
– New feature: Added support for events to Card text items.
– Improved: Define the ‘minimum height’ directly within the card’s properties, eliminating the need to configure it through the flex properties as was required before.
This specifies the minimum height for the card when it is utilized within layout grids. This feature may be useful to ensure consistent card heights across multiple cards with varying content.

Section
– New feature: Added the ability to add links to text and shapes.
– New feature: Added ecommerce functionality (see card for more details).

Card Repeater
– New feature: Added ‘Card Repeater’ object. A Card Repeater operates similarly to a Card Container, with a key distinction: all cards within it share the same layout and style. This means that any modification made to one card will automatically propagate to all other cards within the same container. Of course, the text can be different for each card!

Card Container
– New feature: Cards that are inside a Card container now have a ‘clone’ button. So, you can easily duplicate the selected card.
– New feature: Added support for HTML5 semantic tags.

Google Fonts
– New feature: Added support for Variable fonts.
A variable font contains multiple variations of a typeface (such as weight, width, and slant) within a single file. This enables you to create a wide range of typographic styles and effects using just one font file, resulting in improved performance and more creative possibilities.
Variable fonts can have multiple axes of variation, which represent different attributes of the typeface. These axes can include weight (thin to bold), width (condensed to expanded), slant (italic to upright) and more. Each axis allows for a smooth transition between the extreme variations, giving you granular control over the visual appearance of text.

Notes: if you previously used Google Fonts and want to use the variable font version, then you will need to re-install the font via the font manager.
Not all Google Fonts support variations. In the Font Manager you can select to display variable fonts only. It is also possible to search for specific ‘axes’. For example, if you type ‘weight’ or ‘slant’ in the search field then only fonts that support this functionality will be displayed.

Spellings Checker
– New feature: All input fields for text now have the ability to check the spelling via the context menu.

Timer
– New feature: Introducing the new ‘Visits’ type option. This feature enables you to trigger a timer after a specified number of visits, making it perfect for showcasing introductory dialogs or special offers to new visitors. By default, the timer activates only once, but you also have the option to use a negative number. In this scenario, the count resets after every ‘X’ visits, allowing for repeated activations as needed.
– New feature: Introducing the new ‘Days’ type option. You can now set up timers to activate after a specified number of days following the user’s initial visit. By default, the timer activates only once, but you also have the option to use a negative number, which will restart the timer at regular intervals of ‘x’ days.
– New feature: Added ‘Date Range’ option. This feature allows you to activate a timer within a specific date range, making it perfect for showcasing special offers or managing your store’s operations during holidays and other designated periods.
– New feature: Added ‘Time Range’ option. This feature enables you to set up timers for specific time ranges, making it perfect for delivering personalized welcome messages such as “Good morning” or “Good afternoon” at the right times of day.
Note: The state of these new features will be stored in local storage. If you want to reset the state while testing the website, you can access this via the browser’s debugger console (Application -> Local Storage).

FTP Manager
– New feature: The FTP Manager has been redesigned. It now features a local and remote view, so you can easily copy files (and folders) between the server and your local drives, including drag & drop support. The local folder will be remembered for each publish profile.
– New feature: Both views use shell icons, instead of the generic icons like in previous versions.
– New feature: Added the ability to delete a folder and all its contents. Normally, it is not possible with FTP to delete a remote folder when it’s not empty. But if you hold the SHIFT key while clicking the ‘Delete’ button then the FTP manager will recursively remove all files in the folder first.
– New feature: It is now also possible to upload and download entire folders (including sub folders).

Flex Grid
– New feature: Added ‘Visual grid editor’. The visual flex grid editor provides a user-friendly interface for effortlessly arranging grid items in specific row or column structures.
You can easily add rows and columns using the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons located at the right and bottom of the grid, respectively.
When you hover over an item, controls appear, allowing you to manage its appearance within the grid.
Adding new grid items is as simple as clicking the ‘+’ button, while existing items can be resized using arrow buttons.
Furthermore, removing an item is quick and convenient with the ‘Delete’ button.
– Improved: Added background, border and shadow properties to the Proeprty Inspector for quick access.

Panel Layer
– New feature: Added ‘fixed’ display mode to Panel Layer. In fixed mode, the panel layer will always be visible.

Note: at this moment most browsers do not support a border radius in combination with gradient borders.
– New feature: Added support ‘Image’ and ‘Custom’ border styles to Slide Show, Blog, Article, News Feed Ticker, Bullets, Carousel, Auto Complete, Site Search ….

Form
– New feature: Added Honeypot Anti-Spam option.
The anti-spam honeypot is a hidden form field that bots can’t avoid filling, but it’s invisible to human users. If the hidden field is filled in, it’s a sign of spambot activity and can be blocked. If the field is not filled in, it indicates that the form was filled by a human user as intended. The name of the Honeypot Anti-Spam field name can be set in Form Properties -> Advanced -> Miscellaneous.
Make sure the field name is not the same as one of your existing input fields.
We’ve also created a new ‘anti-spam’ tutorial that provides an overview of the anti-spam features available in WYSIWYG Web Builder: https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/forms_antispam.html
– New feature: Added new site variable to set the honeypot error message: $FORMERROR_HONEYPOT$. Default value is Spam detected.

Form Wizard
– New feature: Form Wizard has undergone a makeover with the ‘Aero’ style. This not only gives the wizard a contemporary appearance but also allows for resizable windows, enhancing user experience.

File Upload
– New feature: Added ‘Bootstrap’ type. This will render the file input using Bootstrap styling (CSS only). Unlike the jQuery UI version which requires JavaScript.

Spinner

– New feature: Added ‘Synchronize MySQL settings between login objects’ option (Tools->Options->General). When this option is enabled, any updates made to MySQL properties will automatically apply to all login objects. Additionally, new login objects created in the project will inherit the same settings as existing objects. This eliminates the need to configure each object individually, streamlining the process and ensuring consistent settings across all login objects.

– New feature: Added ‘JavaScript SDK’ option as alternative for the Legacy Payment Button. This can be set via the ‘PayPal API’ property.
Notes: PayPal’s JavaScript SDK does not provide ‘Add to cart’ and ‘View Cart’ functionality. it only supports ‘Buy Now’. Alternatively, you can use the PayPal Shopping Cart object which has also been updated to support the JavaScript SDK.
Also, the subscription button needs to be setup in the PayPal account.

When using the ‘JavaScript SDK’, you will need to use the ‘Client ID’ instead of the PayPal email address! This can be set globally in Tools -> Options -> eCommerce.

For example: alert(‘$ID$’) will result in alert(‘wb_Heading1’). This means that you no longer have to use a hardcoded ID. If you change the ID of the object in the project, then the code will automatically be updated.
– New feature: Added ‘ondocumentready’ to object events. Previously, the ‘ondocumentready’ event was only accessible through Page events. But there may be situations where you prefer to associate the event directly with an object. This approach can facilitate actions such as seamless copying and pasting of objects with associated events across different pages, or preserving the object as an integral part of a block, which does not include page events.

– New feature: Added ‘Font Variation’ properties. These properties are available for variable fonts only. Additionally, refer to the earlier section in this document for more information on variable fonts.

But you can also use it to extract text or translate the text from the image to a different language.
This feature can be useful for web design to create titles or detailed descriptions for SEO purposes. But you can also use it to create a text prompt from an image and use that to create a new image. The menu text can be set via the new ‘menu name’ property available for all objects that can be used as bookmark: Bookmark, Layer, Layout Grid, Flex Grid, Flex Container and Heading.
– New feature: Added ‘text-transform’ properties (uppercase, lowercase, capitalize). This feature allows you to easily control the capitalization of text. This can be useful when managing menu items, as it enables swift changes in casing without the need to manually.

– Renamed ‘Theme colors’ option to ‘Swatch colors’ to prevent confusion with Themes. Swatch colors control the color palette of the color picker tool.
– Removed support for PHP4 because most built-in features require a newer version anyway. The minimum supported version is now 5.6.

Templates
Added moe than 25 new new templates. As usual these are just some random ideas, to showcase what you can do with the new tools…

Release Note:

- Fixed: Resolved an issue where affix functionality could fail under certain circumstances.
- Fixed: Issue with text color of Ribbon comboboxes.
- Improved: Empty "honeypot" anti-spam field is no longer included in form data.
